Gamble Responsibly

Do you believe that there is such a thing as responsible gambling? Well some people do not. They believe that gambling, however much others want to look at it, is purely, simply, an irresponsible thing to do.

Why is that? That is because they believe that if you put your money into something that does not guarantee to give any money back to you, then, that is just plain irresponsible. In the case of gambling, you put your money where it can never be certain if you will get money in return. Winning in gambling is a very uncertain thing to, mind you.

Why then did we hear about responsible gambling, if in fact it does not exist? Theorists say that this is a marketing ploy done by gambling operators. They say that the gambling industry itself is the one which came up with the idea of responsible gambling to attract people to the gambling world.

This is just like the strategies of companies that produce vices such as smoking and drinking. These strategies work by convincing people that you can smoke, drink, and gamble responsibly. They put the blame on the people themselves for any addiction to cigarettes, alcohol and casinos that they may incur.

However, anti-gambling groups believe that gambling addiction should only be blamed on the gambling industry. They believe that the gambling operators have made gambling so addictive that it makes it so much difficult for the gambling players not to be addicted.

Naturally, the gambling industry would deny this claim. What's more is that they advertise gambling organizations that would help problem gamblers. In that way, the gambling industry would appear to be ready to help anytime those who would fall to gambling addiction.

At present, the debate on who is to blame for gambling addiction still continues - whether there is really a thing as responsible gambling.

In my opinion, gambling, as well as other vices can be very addictive in nature. We should stop pointing fingers as to who should pay for this. Instead, the gambling industry and the players alike should act in unison to decrease, if not eliminate gambling addiction.

After all, anti-gambling groups cannot do much to stop gambling because gambling has already been legalized in so many places. If they were really thinking about the benefit of problem gamblers, then they should stop bickering and should start showing their concern in a more productive way.
